Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
