Government Faced Allegations of Attack on Free Speech Following British Journalist Held
The prominent Muslim civil liberties organization has charged the current leadership of a clear attack to free speech” following federal border officials detained British journalist Sami Hamdi on Sunday.
This body claimed that Hamdi was taken into custody at San Francisco International airport facility because of condemning the Israeli current military campaign in Gaza. Hamdi is one of several persons who have been detained and deported by federal agents for expressing pro-Palestine opinions.
DHS officials stated that the journalist’s visa had been terminated, and that he was in custody “pending removal.”

British journalist Sami Hamdi was reportedly held on Sunday morning by federal immigration authorities at a major US airport, and advocates says that this move is obvious reprisal for the Muslim commentator’s comments of Israel while visiting the US.
An announcement from the organization labeled it was “a blatant affront to freedom of expression” to arrest Hamdi for criticizing Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza while he engaged on a speaking tour. Officials stated in a separate announcement that Hamdi is being deported.
