Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by telling children that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

At a gathering for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked during a Q&A session.

“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform an eight-year-old black child that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, not uniting us. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union dismissed the notion that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. Kebede noted that any strikes must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“This is highly reckless. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”

Reform, which is leading the polls by a significant margin, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. He said: “We face an enormous task with schooling – truly monumental. And, it won’t happen quickly; it will take us years, a long-term effort to reform.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged Kebede of being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that young minds be corrupted through education, their minds should be poisoned regarding national issues” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate teenagers against Reform.

Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has hundreds of thousands of members.

National strikes over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.

During the American gathering, the Reform leader also pledged to help spread the digital courses of the Christian college in the UK. He said organizations like it were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help attract vast numbers of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. According to its online description: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. The college furnishes these excellent programs for free to all who wish to learn.”
