Paceman Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the touring side as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer added to the injury concerns plaguing England upon exiting the field during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The pace bowler experienced discomfort in his hamstring after the final ball of the fourth over during the morning session.

The touring camp reported Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time away from the action to undergo evaluation "in the coming hours".

The series decider of the tour in Sydney begins on Sunday, 4 January.

The English side has been without strike bowlers one seamer to a knee injury and Jofra Archer to a side strain on this Ashes tour.

A replacement bowler was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, claiming a mere three wickets.

He was omitted from the previous Test, then recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Surrey's Atkinson showed better form in Melbourne, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, before adding 28 while batting among just a trio of teammates to get into double digits.

After bowling one over late on the first day, he resumed the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman taken by the wicketkeeper.

Yet, on the final ball of that over, he delivered a change of pace to Travis Head and immediately felt at his leg.

The English bowler was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission of the third.
