Ten individuals sentenced of cyber-bullying directed at Brigitte Macron

A French judicial body has ruled against ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced accusations of disseminating false claims regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making defamatory statements about the couple's significant age difference.
The court handed down conditional custodial sentences of as much as eight months to the perpetrators. The full ruling has still to be made public.
A circulating conspiracy theory alleging that Brigitte Macron is a person assigned male at birth has existed since her husband's rise to the presidency in 2017.
This Monday's court decision in France coincides with the Macrons initiating a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against conservative commentator Candace Owens, who has also voiced analogous false narratives about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens brushed aside any factual proof that refuted her assertions opting to platforming known conspiracy theorists.
Owens has often echoed these claims on her digital program and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her belief that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her future husband when she worked as an educator at his high school.
The two married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
