The Streaming Platform to Bring a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed instalment that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito as the antagonist, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for embracing chaos and insanity with the same excitement, all while weaving gripping, politically driven tales. No wonder then that the network’s recent announcement for a Far Cry limited-run show attracted two visionaries whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game series, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' format by introducing a new location and ensemble in every instalment.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also feature in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for more episodes, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the producer.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” stated Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most famous video-game worlds ever created. And through it all, my FX partners always encourages me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an standalone show. Every title is a take of a concept, the same way each season of Fargo is a adaptation on a premise,” said Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can change from season to season, while always delving into the essence of people through this complex and chaotic viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to partner with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, visionary sensibility to the audience.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
