The families of teens lost after a devastating fire at a venue in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an agonising period of uncertainty for answers and requesting information about their family members publicly.

The fire devastated the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Confirmed video show the roof structure igniting as bottles with fireworks are held aloft.

Authorities have stated that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the fatalities of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another scores more. Authorities stated on the latest update that 113 of the injured have been identified, with the process still underway to locate the remaining few.

In the meantime, families and friends have been using online platforms to appeal for information about their friends who were at the bar that night.

Appeals for the Unaccounted For

The fate of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are still unconfirmed, according to an appeal from his family.

The national sporting body has said that he is dead, without mentioning the tragedy, paying tribute to a "talented young man who carried with him dedication and authentic values."

"A companion told me they fled after the fire erupted and that he had his mobile with him, but then at a specific moment he couldn't see him anymore," she explained, adding he had been wearing a distinctive piece of jewelry.

One of his teachers commented, "He was known for his kindness and smile, coupled with great maturity. Often offer to help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds dual Swiss and Greek citizenship but lives permanently in Switzerland, was also present on New Year's Eve, according to sources.

Her sibling has posted an appeal on social media, saying the family has had "no news" regarding the 15-year-old or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her country of origin say they are actively engaged with the situation.
